Byung Guk Yang
Dr. Byungkook Yang graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine and earned his M.D. and Ph.D. in Health Administration from the same institution. With both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in public health and family medicine, he has spent over 20 years in public service, specializing in healthcare policy and disease control.
During his tenure as Director of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (now the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency), he played a pivotal role in responding to infectious diseases and strengthening the public healthcare system. He later transitioned to the private sector as CEO of Daewoong Bio, where he led the management of a major pharmaceutical company.
Currently, he serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at Seoul National University College of Medicine and continues to advise on the advancement of healthcare and the bioindustry. His career, which spans government, academia, and industry, positions him as a rare professional who bridges medicine and management, as well as the public and private sectors.
